About CARAMEL

Angus King Williams, known on stage as "CARAMEL" is a music director and multidisciplinary performance visionary from Cleveland, Ohio. His creative process begins with the piano, an instrument that sparked his inspiration to pursue art at the age of 5. Seventeen years later, he has composed for string quartets, choirs, a 40-piece jazz band and has expanded his artistic scope to poetry, acting, film, and choreography. Most notably, he displays these skills through "Living In Color", a cross-disciplinary performance he founded, directed, and produced as a platform for Black student artists at his alma mater, Boston College. Caramel was recently cast as an understudy for a Playhouse Square production, “Sankofa: An Epic Adventure”, in which he assisted in choreography and movement. He is currently producing an album which will feature genres like soul, Afro, R&B, and pop.

Living In Color is a theatrical event focused on a day in the life of multiple Black lives. Caramel created the performance in 2023 as a performance showcase for Black led groups and individuals on Boston College's campus to express their art. It soon evolved to become a cohesive, professionally produced event that bridged poetry, music, dance, an film to tell a theatrical story of Black experiences in the US. During Caramel's four years at Boston College, "Living In Color"  took the stage for three consecutive fully funded seasons, and in March of 2025, the performance included over 30 collaborators and artists, and attracted over 250 Boston locals, students, and faculty.
